Jamestown, N.D., pumps raw sewage into river because of high flows through system
High flows through the Jamestown sanitary sewer system last week forced officials to pump two lift stations directly to the river. The pumping began on June 30 and continued at one of the lift stations for four days, according to Steve Suko, utility operations director for Jamestown. “We’re doing pretty good now,” he said. “The pumping seemed to de-water the system enough so things could be handled.”By Keith Norman , July 08, 2011
