After months of negotiations as well as an impasse hearing, the Kensal Public School Board and Kensal teachers came to a base salary agreement of $25,675 Wednesday.
The two parties met after The North Dakota Fact Finders Commission reviewed arguments of both Kensal teachers and the Kensal School Board at an impasse hearing May 20. The commission recommended raising the base salary from $23,150 to $26,250 for the 2008-2009 school year.
An official committee recommended a new salary schedule for Kensal Public Schools — a salary that would give first year teachers a more than $3,000 raise for the upcoming school year.
