Top, the Jamestown Blue Jays sixth-grade traveling boys basketball team won the Fargo Davies Metro Tournament recently, defeating the Moorhead Magic (43-15), Fargo Flames and Fargo Heat (57-35). 5th-graders win tourney

The Jamestown Blue Jays fifth-grade girls traveling basketball team placed first at the Jamestown Cabin Fever Basketball Championships on Feb. 2. The Blue Jays defeated South Border 23-12, Kenmare, N.D. 24-12 and Sutton, N.D., 19-14 in the championship game. The Blue Jays also won their division at a tournament in Aberdeen, S.D., on Jan. 20. The team has a record of 14-8 on the season and has placed second in tournaments in Bismarck and Valley City; third in Aberdeen and fifth in Bismarck. The Elks Hoop Shoot held its State Level Hoop Shoot in Jamestown Jan. 19. Winners advanced to the Region 2 Shoot in Rapid City, S.D. Region 2 champions have the option of advancing to the National Level. Region 2 consists of North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana. The Hoop Shoot is open to boys and girls ages 8-13.
