Following the conclusion of the Stutsman County Invitational Tournament in Jamestown on Saturday, all-tournament team honors were handed out. The players selected to the 2009 all tournament team were: Adam Randall, Kidder County; Nic Moser, Central Prairie; Brock Knodel, Central Prairie; Nolan Hamar, Ellendale; Nic Harding, Midkota; Jaymes Six, Kidder County; Aaron Stemen, LaMoure; Cale Thomas, Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal; Alex Knudson, Edgeley-Kulm; Devin Barton, Carrington; and Chase Monson, Carrington.January 19, 2009
Firebirds claim title
For those who missed it, the Central Prairie boys’ basketball program turned a corner Saturday night at the Jamestown Civic Center. In a David vs. Goliath-type matchup, the Firebirds side-armed a stone that brought down the No. 6-ranked Carrington Cardinals, 70-66, in overtime in the Stutsman County Invitational Tournament championship game. Edgeley-Kulm’s Alex Knudson dropped in 20 first-half points, but it wasn’t enough to get past Kidder County for third place. At 3 p.m. this afternoon, the boys’ Stutsman County Invitational Tournament will be tipping off at the Jamestown Civic Center. The Stutsman County Invitational boys’ basketball tournament is set to tip off on Friday, Jan. 15 at the Jamestown Civic Center. Games begin at 3 p.m. each day of the tournament starting with No. 1-seeded Carrington taking on No. 8-seeded Pingree-Buchanan-Kensal on Thursday, Jan. 16. Commission debates snow pile ordinance
The Stutsman County Commission debated authorizing the drafting of an ordinance prohibiting snow from being piled on the edges of roads or on road right-of-ways during its regular December meeting Tuesday. Work begins on commercial wind farm zoning
The Stutsman County Zoning Board hopes to draft an ordinance for commercial wind energy facilities and forward it on to the County Commission for consideration and possible implementation by the spring, said Fritz Fremgen, Stutsman County state’s attorney. “If we shoot for Feb. 1 for the draft of the ordinance,” he said “It then takes about two months to implement.”By Keith Norman , November 21, 2008

‘Excess levies’ put on 9 townships
The Stutsman County Commission placed “excess levies” on nine townships during its regular November mid-month meeting on Tuesday. The levy will add 9 mills to the taxes of residents of Corwin, Eldridge, Flint, Griffin, Roosevelt, Rose, Stirton, Wadsworth and Walters townships. “Our criteria (for implementing excess levies) is if they are more than $15,000 behind in payments to the county for road work and have been delinquent for more than a year,” said Noel Johnson, chief operating officer for Stutsman County.By Keith Norman , November 19, 2008
