Davis guest speaker at Immanuel

The Rev. Bart Davis from Grace Episcopal Church will be the guest speaker Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1403 Ninth Ave. S.E. Coffee and tea will follow in the fellowship hall. Immanuel Lutheran Church is handicapped accessible and located next to Gardenette Housing in southeast Jamestown. The public is invited to join the congregation in worship.

N.D. court upholds robbery convictions

The North Dakota Supreme Court has upheld the robbery convictions of two Minot men who also were involved in a gun slaying. A jury convicted Antonio Stridiron and Bradley Davis of robbing a Minot man as he was leaving a party at a residence shared by Stridiron, Davis and their girlfriends.

Girl gives hair to Locks of Love

For four years, one 11-year-old grew her hair, letting it fall below her elbows before cutting it Tuesday. Leah Davis, a sixth-grader at Jamestown Middle School, donated 11 1/2 inches of her ash blonde tresses to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that creates hair pieces for financially disadvantaged children.

Minnesota hires new offensive line coach

Minnesota football coach Tim Brewster has named Tim Davis to oversee the Gophers’ running game and offensive line. Davis is currently Alabama director of player personnel. He was named Wednesday to replace Gophers’ offensive line coach Phil Meyer, who resigned Monday after Minnesota’s 55-0 loss to Iowa at the Metrodome. Brewster says Davis has helped develop some of the game’s “most punishing and physical rushing attacks.”

Man sentenced for exposing himself

A man has been ordered to serve a year in jail for exposing himself to a woman in her bank office. Police said Gary Davis entered the woman’s office with his zipper undone and a security camera showed Davis exposing himself four times. The 63-year-old Davis pleaded guilty Monday. He cited pressure and depression after his wife’s death as the main reasons for relapsed sexual offender behavior.

Murder trial to get under way in Minot

Jury selection is set to begin here in the case of a man authorities say was killed after a fight involving a gun and a scythe. Antonio Stridiron, 32, of Minot, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Joshua Velas-quez, 27, last July 29. Bradley Davis, 27, of Minot, is charged with aggravated assault. The two have pleaded not guilty and are to be tried together. Attorneys on Monday are to start whittling down the jury pool, from 104 people down to 12 jurors and two alternates.
