The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. Board of Directors voted 11-3 to recommend continuing funding of $75,000 to the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation, but tabled voting on the foundation’s operations funding.
The Jamestown Hospital Foundation has hit its $3 million fundraising goal for the $52 million Jamestown Regional Medical Center now under construction.
Jan Barnes, foundation director, said 41 people in the region and around the country have donated $5,000 or more to the capital campaign. But the largest gift came from the estate of area farmer Dan Kornovich, who died in June 2009.
The Jamestown Hospital Foundation has raised its first million dollars in less than a year, and foundation director Jan Barnes is optimistic another $2 million will flow into the coffers to support the new regional medical center.
Jamestown Hospital CEO Marty Richman agrees.
“Based on the feedback that I’m getting, I do believe we will achieve our goal of $3 million,” Richman said.
Jamestown Hospital Foundation was selected by Dakota Medical Foundation to participate in the 2010 Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event that will be held Thursday. All contributions of $10 or more will be matched by DMF up to a maximum of $4,000.
