A new national volunteer program supporting military families, Project EverGreen’s SnowCare for Troops, brings together volunteers to provide free snow removal services for military families with a spouse or family member serving overseas in the armed forces.
The 23rd annual German Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Pauls United Methodist church, Jamestown. The Rev. Clayton Scheaffer will be the speaker. There will be special music. There will be refreshments served.
The 23rd annual Eastern North Dakota Synod Assembly is this weekend at the Jamestown Civic Center, during which the assembly members are planning on doing many acts of community service in and around Jamestown.
The Rev. Terry Brandt, associate with the bishop of the syndod, said 481 voting members were registered to attend and 49 guests were also expected.
The assembly will begin Saturday with opening worship, following by a meeting on the synod’s business.
The Jamestown Ministerial Association Lenten luncheon and services continue each Wednesday at different local churches. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with worship service following from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m.
Grace Episcopal Church is giving an “Evening Prayer Challenge” to all members of the community challenging them to attend the daily service of Evening Prayer offered at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The four ELCA congregations of Jamestown — Atonement, Immanuel, Trinity and St. John’s — will hold a joint Thanksgiving Eve Service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 424 First Ave. S.
The Rev. Leon Zavadil of Trinity will preach with the Rev. Suzanne Orlopp of St. John’s presiding. Holy Communion will be celebrated within a liturgy called The Bread of Life.
