The recent washout of two holes at Jamestown Country Club won’t keep the state’s longest running charity golf tournament from happening next month.
The 29th Annual Anne Carlsen Center Benefit Golf Tournament will be played Aug. 6 at the Country Club, which had holes No. 6 and 7 washed away on Monday when a pond on a neighboring property washed out, sending water, rocks and debris across the course.
An art show and silent auction at Face to Face for Wellness & Beauty raised nearly $370 for the Anne Carlsen Center.
Beginning in October, the salon invited people to submit their photographs, paintings, sculptures, and other artwork in the contest. The pieces were displayed at the salon, 607 13th St. N.E., and were voted on by community members, until Dec.10. That evening, Face to Face hosted a holiday party, during which attendees could participate in a silent auction and bid on their favorite works of art.
The Ladies and Individuals Motorcycle clubs donated more than $6,000 to the Anne Carlsen Center during a presentation on Oct. 13.
Two gifts were made to the ACC. A $3,500 check was presented to ACC Activity Director Denise Jensen, who, along with ACC Planned Giving Specialist Shelley Nannenga, also accepted a $50 gift card for each student at the Center.
Dan Howell, chief executive officer at the Anne Carlsen Center, will pack up his family and leave Jamestown at the end of August.
On Monday the ACC announced Howell will be the new CEO at Beatrice State Developmental Center, in Beatrice, Neb. starting Aug. 31.
