The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is getting a second chance at having land it owns on the south edge of Fargo annexed into the city as part of its plan to build a new residential treatment facility for area youths.
The Fargo Planning Commission is recommending approval of the agency’s request to annex 36 acres, and the City Commission is expected to vote on it Monday.
Although the City Council’s Building, Planning and Zoning Committee gave the go ahead to the annexation process for the new hospital site, its members emphasized the process included a public hearing, allowing the community to comment.
A judge has rejected Mandan’s move to annex property next to a new junior high school.
Administrative Law Judge Allen Hoberg said the area still is rural, and he said the expansion could hurt property owners.
