The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into how news organizations gather the news.

About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.
Jamestown Sun staff earned several awards in The Associated Press 2009 Dakotas Newspaper Contest. The Sun competed in the medium division, for newspapers with 6,001 to 16,000 circulation in North Dakota and South Dakota. The awards were an-nounced Friday.
