A bike safety rodeo is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. June 7 at Wilson Arena in Jamestown. Planned are a drawing for bikes, free helmets and water bottles (while supplies last) and bike licenses will be sold. Also available will be child ID kits, door prizes and free hotdogs and pop.

A Bike Safety Rodeo sponsored by the James Valley Fraternal Order of Police, Jamestown Parks and Recreation, Farmers Insurance Agency, Central Valley Health, Jamestown Optimists, Newman Signs and Walmart will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Friday at Wilson Arena (use the east doors).
With spring finally here, people may want to get outside and exercise and Jamestown has many trails ready for them.
According to a recent survey for Jamestown Parks and Recreation, more than 50 percent of people said they want more biking opportunities and more than 20 percent said they want more jogging opportunities.
Leo, Ava and Fritz Fremgen were each double-winners at the 2010 Gear Grinder Mountain Bike Race and Pipestem Creek Trail Run/Walk.
Leo Fremgen placed first in the Beginners Division in the mountain bike race, held on Aug. 15. He won the 3-mile race in a time of 24:04.85. He also took top honors in the 3-mile run, posting a time of 24:24 in the race held Aug. 14.
Children took to an ice rink Friday, but they weren’t so much interested in figure skating as they were in figure eights.
The 100 or so bike riders slalomed through an obstacle course of construction cones and caution tape on a cement-topped ice rink, avoiding hazards like rail road tracks, speed bumps and debris in the road.

BISMARCK (AP) — A Minnesota man has been barred from an annual bike tour in North Dakota after objecting to a prayer said during the event.
Morgan Christian, 54, of St. Paul, rode the 500-mile CANDISC tour three consecutive years. He objected last summer to a prayer said before a meal at a public high school gym in Turtle Lake, one of several host communities along the route.
