Browns employee kills self at practice center

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — A member of the Cleveland Browns’ grounds crew killed himself at their practice facility, a team spokesman said Sunday.

Browns trade Quinn to Broncos

Brady Quinn will get a chance to start over in Denver. Whether he’ll get to start is up in the air. The Broncos acquired the former first-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012. The teams announced the trade Sunday and said the deal is pending physicals.

Eric Mangini came up with his biggest win yet. Mangini will return for a second season as Cleveland’s coach, a stunning personal victory following a four-game winning streak by the Browns that may have saved his job. New team president Mike Holmgren decided Thursday to retain Mangini, whose job security was in jeopardy after the Browns started 1-11.

Ravens beat Browns

For 30 minutes, the Baltimore Ravens were inefficient, unproductive and disorganized. In 17 seconds, they changed all that. Ray Rice scored on a 13-yard run and safety Dawan Landry returned an interception of Brady Quinn 48 yards for a touchdown on Cleveland’s next play as the Ravens overcame a horrendous start for a 16-0 win over the hapless Browns on Monday night.

Browns avert local TV blackout

Browns’ Stallworth suspended indefinitely

Cleveland Browns receiver Donte’ Stallworth was indefinitely suspended by the NFL on Thursday for driving drunk and killing a pedestrian in Miami. “The conduct reflected in your guilty plea resulted in the tragic loss of life and was inexcusable,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a letter to Stallworth.

Browns open up QB job

Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson? Eric Mangini isn’t sure, so he’s throwing the Cleveland Browns quarterback job into a free-for-all. “I don’t have a projected starter at this point,” Mangini said Tuesday at the NFL meetings. “What we’re going to do is we’ll have an open competition where they’ll both get a chance to establish that they’ll be the starter.”

Mighty Quinn?

Jay Cutler turned Brady Quinn’s big night into his own prime-time showcase. Cutler passed for a career-high 447 yards, throwing three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter Thursday night — the last an 11-yarder to Brandon Marshall with 1:14 remaining — to rally the broken Denver Broncos to a 34-30 win over the Cleveland Browns that spoiled Quinn’s highly hyped debut as an NFL starter.
