“Scandinavia in a Nutshell” was the agenda for the Sons of Norway during its March meeting. Tim Burchill presented an educational travel log of Denmark for the program. All received a stamp and flag of Denmark in their passports.
The Nov. 24 meeting of the Stutsman County Area Retired Teachers Association was held at the James River Senior and Community Center with 13 members and guests present. The program was presented by Tim Burchill, Ave Maria Village administrator.

The Jewels of the Prairie will meet at 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Senior Citizen Center at 502 10th Ave. S.E. for a program on Denmark by Tim Burchill followed by supper with choice of knoephla or chicken noodle soup, breads and a light dessert. Tim Burchill spoke of the events that lead to the last lynching in North Dakota in January 1931 during the last Front Porch Chat at the Stutsman County Memorial Museum. The site of the hanging was a bridge over Cherry Creek, a tributary of the Little Missouri River near Watford City and Schafer, N.D., the former county seat of McKenzie County.
