SLOWINGTHERACINGMIND Grateful for My Family Bush
November is one of my favorite times to be on Facebook. All throughout the month, people post their "thankfuls" each day. Because I like to be slightly rebellious about some times (while being a joine... Posted on 11/22/11 at 9:10 AM

Eighteen people were taken to the hospital Friday, at least two in serious condition, after they were hurt in a crash between a hotel shuttle bus and a tractor-trailer near Atlanta's airport, officials said.
A tour of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum begins in a bright area representing his early domestic agenda, but with one turn, visitors find themselves in a darkened room surrounded by chilling reminders of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Reggie Bush’s copy of his 2005 Heisman Trophy currently is in the possession of a San Diego sports museum, but is not on display.
Angela LaChica, a vice president at the San Diego Hall of Champions, says the hall received the trophy from the family in March but never displayed it and now is in the process of getting it back in the hands of Bush’s family.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Reggie Bush said Thursday that his decision to relinquish his Heisman Trophy should not be seen as an admission that he and his family improperly accepted cash and gifts from sports agents while he played for Southern Cal.
“It’s definitely not an admission of guilt. It’s me showing respect to the Heisman Trophy itself and to the people who came before me and the people coming after,” Bush said after practice with the New Orleans Saints.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The NCAA threw the book at storied Southern California on Thursday with a two-year bowl ban, four years’ probation, loss of scholarships and forfeits of an entire year’s games for improper benefits to Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush dating to the Trojans’ 2004 national championship.
USC was penalized for a lack of institutional control in the ruling by the NCAA following its four-year investigation. The report cited numerous improper benefits for Bush and former basketball player O.J. Mayo, who spent just one year with the Trojans.
I’m sorry to see Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad and Rep. Earl Pomeroy relentlessly blaming the country’s troubles on President George W. Bush, who has been out of office for two years. The fact is the Democrats have controlled both houses of Congress since 2006 and the White House since 2008, and things have gotten progressively worse for our country.
So many people, mostly Republicans, are complaining about the cost of the health care bill. They say its cost will raise the deficit. Forgotten is how reckless the George W. Bush administration was with the nation’s finances.
A judge told a man convicted of threatening then-President George W. Bush that he doesn’t have to speak with the Secret Service, but that he probably should unless he wants agents checking up on him after he completes his sentence.

The Palestinians had hoped they would see a new day coming after the Bush administration’s eight-year capitulation to all that Israel wanted. But they were wrong.
The Obama administration is moving down the same Bush road — perhaps a little slower, but nonetheless still enabling the Israelis to continue to violate international law and the U.N. Charter by annexing occupied Arab land.

It isn’t easy to put words in the mouth of the president of the United States, but the White House stable of speechwriters does that almost every day.
The frustrations of such a prestigious post are painfully recalled by Matt Latimer, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, in his new book “Speech-Less.” The subtitle of the book is “Tales of a White House Survivor.”

John Andelin says creating a marble sculpture of former President George H.W. Bush has been an amazing and humbling experience.
The Williston pathologist does sculpting as a hobby. His sculpture of Bush, weighing about 2,700 pounds and standing 9 feet, 1 inch tall, was unveiled at the George and Barbara Bush Center on the University of New England campus in Biddeford, Maine, on Sept. 17. It was carved from a block of Colorado Yule marble.

Former President George H.W. Bush says his mother might not approve of a statue honoring him at the University of New England. Bush joked that she might think the pose, with him looking skyward, shows a lack of modesty that she insisted her children show.
President Barack Obama abruptly canceled a long-planned missile shield for Eastern Europe on Thursday, replacing a Bush-era project that was bitterly opposed by Russia with a plan he contended would better defend against a growing threat of Iranian missiles.
