WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats controlling the Senate pressed Monday for an immediate infusion of money to repair the iconic dome of the U.S. Capitol, which has fallen into disrepair and has at least 1,300 cracks in it.

BISMARCK — North Dakota lawmakers have spent more than $600,000 to spiff up the Capitol’s legislative hearing rooms and corridors to prepare for the 2011 Legislature, buying new carpeting, tables and audio gear, video screens and even a $2,500 electric piano.
