Well, it worked in the video game. Carl Edwards did everything he could Sunday, including purposely bouncing off the concrete wall at Kansas Speedway, but it wasn’t quite enough to beat two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson.

Champs crowned

A long season of competitive points racing culminated with the 2008 Track Championship at the Jamestown Speedway Saturday night. After all the laps were completed and the dust settled, Randy Tarno, Spencer Johnson, Ryan Fike and Landon Becker were all crowned season champs in their respective car classes.

Season point titles on the line tonight

Arment aces Modified Special

Kent Arment cashed in after getting a call to go his way. The Aberdeen WISSOTA Modified driver got a 50-50 ruling on an early yellow that put him on the pole, and he took advantage of it, going wire-to-wire to win the Mod special Saturday night at the Jamestown Speedway. After having last week off, Arment was joined by Trent Grager, Jayson Corell and Matt Gumke as feature winners.

Jegtvig, Corell split Mod features

It was a tough-luck outing for WISSOTA Modified driver Jerry Lamb Saturday night. The veteran from Lisbon led late in both Mod features at the Jamestown Speedway, but was unable to seal the deal. Instead, Lamb who led as late as lap 19 in the makeup race, and then into the 19th go-around in the regularly scheduled showdown, had to settle for a pair of second-place finishes.

Busch picks up his fifth win

Kyle Busch snapped the slump that plagued him the past two weeks, racing to his first Sprint Cup Series win on a road course Sunday at Infineon Raceway. Busch, who had a poor qualifying run and started 30th, steadily moved through the field and grabbed the lead away from defending race winner Juan Pablo Montoya on an early restart. Nobody came close to taking the lead from Busch the rest of the way, but he did have to hold off a pair of challenges on two late restarts.

Schatz’s win streak snapped in South Dakota

John Andretti has been around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway long enough to know that the weather can fool you. After scrambling the previous day, along with everyone else, to get track time in gloomy, cold and windy conditions, Friday’s sunshine and warmer temperatures weren’t going to con Andretti, who will try Saturday to qualify for his ninth Indianapolis 500 start dating to 1988.
