Complications in switching service networks are the cause for spotty cellphone coverage around and in parts of Jamestown.
Some AT&T customers here have noticed a lack of service and limited reception after the merger between AT&T and Alltel.
AT&T devices run on a different network than Verizon and customers are complaining because they were primarily roaming on the other carrier’s network, which AT&T devices do not work with, said Alex Carey, AT&T Corporate Communications for Minnesota and Northern Plains states, in an email.
Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons, in conjunction with Insight Marketing Design, is launching a comprehensive campaign to encourage people to put their phones away while driving. The campaign will be launched during the Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons Annual Meeting on May 1, in Aberdeen, S.D. Through the leadership of Girl Scouts, Scouts intend to advocate for change in the Dakota Horizons Council and ultimately across the entire Girl Scout movement.
Sexting is a serious topic that’s gaining national attention. A member of the Dakota Wesleyan University faculty is doing his part to raise awareness even more.
Jesse Weins, a Dakota Wesleyan University assistant professor, says state laws are not keeping up with the realities of sexting, which is the act of sending sexually explicit texts, particularly photos or videos, via cell phones.

Is all common courteous in a library gone?
I remember what a treat it was going to the library as a child. So many books, places to travel, animals to see and adventures to have! My mom always made sure we were quiet and respectful to others at the library.
A former cell phone refurbishing company executive is scheduled to plead guilty in Devils Lake to a reduced charge in an alleged theft case.
Jose Collado and Quality One Wireless LLC, based in Orlando, Fla., are accused in a scheme to bill the city of Devils Lake for computers and other equipment never used there. The company operated in Devils Lake for about a year, starting in January 2007.
The evidence is in:
Don’t text and drive. For that matter, don’t talk (on your cell phone) and drive, either.
And get ready for the day when such texting and talking while driving are illegal, given the fact that they’re just about as risky as driving drunk.
