In other words, if Chapman still were in charge, when would North Dakotans have learned of the budget shortfalls that prompted the interim president to order a hiring freeze shortly after taking office?

Although some may have thought otherwise, ultimately North Dakota State University President Joseph Chapman was not too big to fail. Chapman resigned earlier this month, amid controversy and concern over a number of issues on campus.
North Dakota State University students chanted “We love Joe” at a rally for outgoing President Joseph Chapman.
The 67-year-old Chapman is resigning in January after 11 years at NDSU.
Kevin Teigen was the student body president in 2005-06 when the students held a “Don’t go Joe” rally to persuade Chapman not to take another job. At Wednesday’s rally, he said Chapman “challenged us all to achieve the things that we truly want to achieve.”
Local media are taking heat from some who blame them for North Dakota State University President Joseph Chapman’s resignation.
For the past week, Chapman has been the primary topic of discussion on local talk radio shows and the subject of several front-page stories in The Forum due to controversies over how much the NDSU president’s house cost to build and other uses of donated funds to the university.
