The Jamestown Choralaires take the stage tonight and Friday for the only show of the year that the local men’s singing group will headline.
“Get Musical!” will feature the 50-plus-member Choralaires as well as a local boys’ choir, and the two groups plan to perform show tunes and patriotic numbers.
Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Choir of Fergus Falls, Minn., will perform Easter Sunday, at 9:45 a.m. at Victory Lutheran Church. All 40 members of the choir are senior high school students in attendance at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
The Valley Children’s Choir will present a mini-version of the Broadway production “Oliver!” at 7 p.m. April 7 in Theatre 320 on the Valley City State University campus. Singing and dancing in costumes representing London in the early 1800s, the choristers will perform numbers such as “Food Glorious Food,” “Consider Yourself,” “Pick a Pocket or Two,” “Oom-Pah-Pah” and “Who Will Buy?”
The Jamestown High School Choir and Orchestra will be presenting their fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the high school theater. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will include the 2010 Vocal Jazz Ensemble performing “Don’t Stop Believin’” and a string duet performed by seniors Laura Kraft and Matthew McIntyre.
The Red River Boy Choir will present its spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church, South Campus, 3636 25th St. S., Fargo. Vocal musical literature, including classical and contemporary sung in English and Latin, will be performed along with cellist Eric Guttormson. Special guests include the Lake Agassiz Girl Choir. Cost is $5 for an adult, $3 for a student and free for those age 5 and younger.
Jamestown High School Choir students attended the WDA Music Contest on April 8 in Bismarck. Forty-seven students attended and performed either solos or ensembles for a judge and audience members. Students received good, excellent and superior ratings. Those who “starred” or received a superior rating will continue on to state level competition, which will be held on the campus of Jamestown College on April 23. Thirty-six students will advance to state festival.
