A Central Indiana school district has asked four high school track coaches to resign for ordering male and female team members to perform so-called bear crawls on an asphalt running track for missing practice the day before the prom.
I often check various sports websites among my first tasks each day to make sure we include the major items of the day.

Linton’s Dan Carr and Rick Anderson of Griggs County Central are two of the 13 finalists from North Dakota for the NHSACA Coach of the Year award.
Carr, in his 31st year at Linton, surpassed the 600-win total earlier this season during his tenure as the boys’ basketball coach. Carr has won nearly 80 percent of his games, and has led Linton to three state Class B titles and one second-place finish.
The North Dakota High School Activities Association will not require that all coaches be certified to work in the state.
Instead, the NDHSAA strongly urged at a meeting Monday in Bismarck that its member schools have coaches trained in First Aid, CPR and concussion management.

I’m writing in response to the latest Jamestown Public School Board meeting. I think it’s great for the School Board to look at different options and find ways for students to participate in an activity.

FARGO (AP) — Three North Dakota State coaches who guided their teams to NCAA tournaments have received contract extensions with bumps in pay.
They are Bison men’s basketball coach Saul Phillips, women’s volleyball coach Erich Hinterstocker and women’s fastpitch softball coach Darren Mueller.
