The women’s fellowship from First Congregation United Church of Christ recently donated $$375 to Community Action to provide assistance to their lunch backpack program.
The backpack program provides food for the weekend to local children.
Community Action Head Start is now taking applications for the upcoming program year. Community Action Head Start is a free comprehensive early childhood program providing educational services for eligible children in this area. Parents interested in giving their child this opportunity are encouraged to call 1-800-726-8179.
A registration day/open house will be from 3 to 7 p.m. April 23 at the 3-5 Head Start Center, 1201 Sixth Ave. N.E. in Jamestown.
Like many institutions across the country, charitable organizations are taking a hit, and few have offered bailout plans for the people needing it most.
