Encouraged by a group of Dickinson community leaders, the state Board of Higher Education hired D.C. Coston as the permanent new president of Dickinson State University, five months after his predecessor was removed.
Dickinson State University will receive $8.8 million to fund a Stoxen Library renovation, Gov. John Hoeven announced in Dickinson Wednesday.
“On a scale of one to 10, our excitement meter is a 12,” said Dr. Richard McCallum, DSU president.

Dickinson State University officials retired the numbers of three college softball players at a packed memorial Thursday, two days after the women were found dead in their sunken vehicle in a livestock pond.
Dickinson State track and field coach Pete Stanton sat in his Wienbergen Hall office Wednesday afternoon and looked out the door.
“It’s been a quiet day,” said Stanton, also the DSU football team’s linebackers coach.
Just minutes later, however, doors began opening and football players started rumbling in for 3 p.m. practice.

Dickinson State University will host its fourth annual Theodore Roosevelt Symposium Oct. 15-17. This year’s symposium is titled “Theodore Roosevelt, Family Man in the Arena” and focuses on the adventure and challenge of life among the Roosevelts.
Scott Kleeman has stepped down as head rodeo coach at Dickinson State, saying he has reached the goals he set when he was hired five years ago.
During Kleeman’s tenure, the Blue Hawks men and women staked their claims as rodeo teams to beat in the Great Plains Region, sending numerous contestants to the College National Finals Rodeo.
Dickinson State won the Dakota Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup, the league’s all-sports award, for the 2008-09 school year.
The Blue Hawks finished with 120 points, having won six conference titles. Dickinson State won the DAC football, women’s basketball, men’s indoor and outdoor track, baseball and softball titles.
