VALLEY CITY, N.D. — Members of the North Dakota Department of Transportation and law enforcement officials from Ashley to Wahpeton met here Thursday to announce to the launch of a new program to combat intoxicated driving.
The Regional Driving Under the Influence Task Force Program will start Oct. 1 with required quarterly saturation checkpoints in the southeast Jamestown region, which encompasses Eddy, Foster, Griggs, Stutsman, Barnes, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh and Dickey counties.
Mark Goehner, president of Eddy Funeral Home has announced the addition of Nicole Buchmann as a licensed funeral director. Buchmann joined the staff after completing her internship with Eddy Funeral Home from October 2008 to October 2009. She graduated from the University of Mary, Bismarck, with a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 2007 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in mortuary science.
Job Service North Dakota has issued eligibility re-quirements for Disaster Unemployment Assistance for the presidential amended declared disaster for individuals in Eddy and Wells counties as a result of the severe storms and flooding in North Dakota, beginning March 13 and continuing.
A special supper to promote local foods is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Bowdon Community Center, 121 Warrington Ave., in Bowdon.
“We’re looking for folks in a five-county area who are interested in developing and implementing a local foods initiative in central North Dakota,” said Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson. “It will be an opportunity to learn more about the local foods movement and what you can do to promote it.”
