(AP) — The Minnesota Vikings held their final public practice on another hot, humid morning Thursday, giving the fans some free entertainment in the form of a high-intensity workout with a brief scuffle. Of course, the shoving and shouting between running back Toby Gerhart and defensive end Ray Edwards, followed by a spirited knock-it-off confrontation of Edwards by defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, didn’t answer any of the big questions marks surrounding the defending NFC North champions.

Erin Hart and Kaitlin Walsh from Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Ali Edwards and Aaron Field have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club. Walsh, a senior diver for the Blue Jays, won the West Region championship in Minot on Saturday with a score of 383.10, earning her second-team all-state honors. She also was named all-West Region.

Carl Edwards will race this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway despite breaking his right foot playing frisbee. Edwards is on crutches but was cleared to race in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series by doctors from the University of Missouri. He is from Columbia, Mo., and was injured in a hometown game Wednesday night.
