.S. Alpine skier Cody Marshall has a head injury after falling about 20 feet while sliding from an escalator railing.
Police say the 26-year-old was out with teammates when he fell off the escalator rail around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in a mini-mall on Park City’s Main Street. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
For a time, according to undocumented but persistent downtown lore, it was the first and only moving staircase in all of North Dakota.
But the magical mechanical carpet ride is no more. The aging Otis escalator inside the First National Bank building in downtown Grand Forks is silent and still today.
