State money to help State Fair rebound from flood

The North Dakota State Fair is getting $3.4 million in state money to help with its recovery from historic Souris River flooding two summers ago that swamped the fairgrounds in Minot and forced the cancellation of that year's festivities.

Lindberg’s tenure as Fair Board president marked by change

Alan Lindberg of Jamestown has served on the Stutsman County Fair Board for 31 years — the last 25 as its president. He has stepped down as president, but will continue to serve on the board through the end of 2013. Mike Williams, owner of Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, is now serving as the board’s president.

Fair attendance up from 2011

Attendance at the Stutsman County Fair was up from last year, according to Mike Williams, treasurer of the Stutsman County Fair Board. The official numbers won’t be ready until later in the week, but Williams said it’s safe to say the gate attendance was more than 27,000. This is up from 2011 when attendance was slightly more than 25,500.
