On Saturday mornings, crowds of homeless gather with other needy people at picnic tables outside a church in an upscale Phoenix neighborhood, listen to sermons and settle in for sausage, pancakes and scrambled eggs.
The pastor said it’s the Lord’s work. Neighbors say it should be done elsewhere.
People convicted of theft or shoplifting in Fargo will have to make a $50 donation to help feed the poor.
Municipal Judge Tom Davies announced Wednesday that the donation will be a condition of getting suspended jail time. It’s in addition to the typical fine of $225 and $25 in court costs.
A Wild Game Feed and Auction is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Pingree’s Highway 281 Stop. Elk, bison, venison, moose, salmon, pheasant, along with side dishes such as potatoes and vegetables will be served by Birding Drives Dakota.

The meeting was called to order by the new club president, Darin Finck.
The new meeting format for the Jamestown Lions Club is meeting on the first and third Wednesday of each month September through May.
BISMARCK (AP) — Nearly 300 North Dakota ranchers will receive a total of $1 million in compensation for additional feed transportation costs and feed losses caused by the harsh winter and spring flooding.
The Jamestown High School Choir, Show Choir, Vocal Jazz and Trio Plus 1 will present their annual Pops Concert and Taco Feed on Monday. The taco feed will be in the high school commons area from 5 to 7 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m.
South Dakota’s state veterinarian says he has found no evidence of sick or starving bison at a ranch along the North Dakota-South Dakota border but he is recommending the ranch have a management plan and at least a month’s worth of feed on hand.

A rural Oriska man is recovering in a Fargo hospital after a hay bale that weighed nearly 1,500 pounds fell on him.
Michelle Stubstad said her husband, Neil, was taking feed to horses late Friday afternoon when the bale fell off the loader.
