LOS ANGELES (AP) — Cat owners have done a good job spaying and neutering their pets. The big issue now when it comes to felines is population control of feral cats, and that's led to a movement by animal welfare groups to trap colonies of these wild cats for sterilization.

Wildlife officials are working to keep feral swine from becoming established in North Dakota.
State Game and Fish assistant wildlife chief Greg Link said landowners who know or suspect that feral swine are on their property must immediately notify the state Board of Animal Health.
City staff in Fargo are studying a proposal from an animal welfare group to have the city help pay for vaccinating feral cats and testing them for feline leukemia.
Minn-Kota PAAWS wants the city to chip in $20 for each animal.
A Lake County man this month shot a feral pig, an animal usually found in the southern United States.
Chad Aker said the animal was first sighted about six weeks ago by farmers chopping corn for silage.
