Tyson Foods Inc. said it made strides in the meat business this year and predicts more improvements next year, but analysts worry the company’s all-important chicken business is lagging others in the industry.
A special supper to promote local foods is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the Bowdon Community Center, 121 Warrington Ave., in Bowdon.
“We’re looking for folks in a five-county area who are interested in developing and implementing a local foods initiative in central North Dakota,” said Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson. “It will be an opportunity to learn more about the local foods movement and what you can do to promote it.”
You may have noted that kids are making some “special requests” in grocery stores. Maybe you’ve experienced this yourself.
Not surprisingly, kids often request “treats.” Children commonly re-quest snacks/ desserts, candy, sweetened cereal and fast food they’ve seen advertised on TV. Parents and others say “yes” half the time to requests for food, especially soft drinks, cookies and candy.
It’s always nice to be told to eat more of a delicious, fatty food, as in the case of salmon.
Health officials recommend eating at least two servings a week of omega-3 fatty acid-rich fish, such as salmon, herring and trout.
