The community Good Friday service, sponsored by the Jamestown Ministerial Association, will be held at noon April 2, at the United Presbyterian Church, 302 Second Ave. S.E. No lunch will be served that day.
The theme for that service will be “I am the Good Shepherd.”
Holy Week observances continue at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1403 Ninth Ave. S.E. The Good Friday service is at 6:45 p.m. today, featuring hymns and Scripture readings of Jesus’ final hours and death. The “Stones of the Covenant,” reminders of sin and weakness, which were presented during the Lenten journey will be symbolically and literally brought forward by participants and laid at the foot of the old wooden cross.
St. John’s continues Holy Week services with the Good Friday service at 7 p.m. today with the theme, “The Body of Christ.”
On Saturday, an Easter Prayer Vigil will be held in the church sanctuary starting at 9 a.m. continuing until 9 p.m. A resource booklet of prayer concerns and suggested prayers will be available for use.
Jamestown Public School announces that there will be no school on Good Friday, April 10. Due to the storm day used on Jan. 12, school will be in session on April 13.
