Erin Hart and Kaitlin Walsh from Jamestown High School and Jamestown College’s Ali Edwards and Aaron Field have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
Walsh, a senior diver for the Blue Jays, won the West Region championship in Minot on Saturday with a score of 383.10, earning her second-team all-state honors. She also was named all-West Region.
Jamestown High School’s Erin Hart, Kaitlin Walsh and Michael Bangs, along with Jamestown College’s Samantha Revering and Brandon Quinn, were all selected as the Jamestown Optimist Club’s Athletes of the Week.
In first-team all-state qualifying time, Jamestown freshman Erin Hart captured third in the 100 backstroke finals during the high school girls’ swimming and diving state championships Saturday in Mandan.
Hart set a personal best in the event during the prelims on Friday, when she completed the race with a time of 1:01.55. She backed up that performance in the finals with a 1:01.68, which was good enough to place her third on the podium.
Erin Hart had three first-place finishes as the Jamestown High School girls’ swimming and diving team split a double dual with Bismarck and Century on Thursday.
The Blue Jays won 10 of the 12 events against the Demons in a 141-36 victory, while Century won seven of 12 head-to-head matchups in the other dual in a 106-80 victory.
