The Jamestown Parks Program will host a dog show at Hi-Acres Manor at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be awards for different categories. The Parks Program at Meidinger, Klaus, Nickeus Park and Wilson Arena will close at 2 p.m. Anyone who has questions may call the Parks and Recreation Office, 252-3982.
On June 30, Eventide Senior Living Communities, based in Moorhead, Minn., and West Fargo, N.D., expects to officially purchase Hi-Acres Manor of Jamestown. Hi-Acres Manor is a for-profit,family-owned company led by Gary Riffe, who will continue to stay on in a leadership role.
The Day Dream Teams of Hi-Acres Manor and Ave Maria Village held simultaneous open house celebrations to honor centenarians residing at their respective facilities on March 6. The honorees either had already turned 100 years old, or would be turning 100 sometime in 2010.
Hi-Acres Manor Day Dream Team recently fulfilled four resident dreams.
Each year Alice Johansen sponsored a table at the annual Youth For Christ Banquet. This year her dream was to again sponsor a table. She requested assistance from the Day Dream Team to help her attend the banquet. On Oct. 26, Johansen and Day Dream member Paula Woods enjoyed the banquet, the meal and special guest Taylor Mason. They said they had a wonderful evening.
Gary Riffe, president/ administrator, of Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, presented awards to 31 staff members for years of service at the annual Christmas party held at the Nafus Center on the Jamestown College Campus.
Five-year service awards were given to: Susan Davis, CNA; Laurel Holtan, LPN; Melanie Hughes, Laundry; Tracey Moore, RN; Wayne Pfaff, maintenance; Patricia “Deb” Steele, Therapy; Hasmik Ter-Vardanyan, CNA; and Billi Zupan, LPN.
The Hi-Acres Day Dream Team has fulfilled several dreams recently.
Velda Sam and Ethelwyn Tinker commented they used to play bingo and missed going to the Vets Club for a night out. The Day Dream Team took action to fulfill their wishes. Sam spent the afternoon shopping for a new outfit accompanied by Liza Radtke. She picked out a new top in her favorite color, red. On June 3 Sally Morehouse and Radtke accompanied Sam and Tinker to the Vets Club for supper and bingo.
