Two Romanian plants believed to be the source of horsemeat mislabeled as beef in supermarkets across Europe declared it properly and any fraud was committed somewhere else down the line, officials said Monday.
It’s unlikely that North Dakota will open a horse slaughterhouse in the wake of Congress lifting a ban on funding horse meat inspections, a state official said.
Pro-slaughter activists have said they are looking to open a plant soon — possibly in North Dakota.
Horse racing appears headed back to Fargo in 2011.
The North Dakota Racing Commission on Tuesday approved four weekends of racing next summer at Fargo’s North Dakota Horse Park, a track that was dormant last summer due to financial troubles.
