JRHS holding potato bar fundraiser
The James River Humane Society will hold its third annual silent auction/potato bar from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus. Tickets are $10 each to be entered into a cash raffle (giving away $500 total). Children 10 and under eat at no charge.February 29, 2012

CDC: GF rabies event exposed risk
A rabies incident last March at Grand Forks’ Circle of Friends Humane Society highlighted the risk faced by animal shelter employees across the country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report distributed this week. The incident led to the euthanizing of 31 dogs. My family, along with many other families in Jamestown, have adopted pets from the James River Humane Society or maybe have pets buried in the pet cemetary on the Humane Society property. We appreciate the caring people who volunteer endless hours there in so many ways. Besides giving special care to the pets, these people work to raise funds to keep the shelter going.
