The field of participants in the sixth Innovate ND program has been narrowed from 75 to 28 teams. A final 20 teams will be selected in April. The final group will proceed to the oral presentations and judging May 21-22 in Fargo.
Lt. Gov Jack Dalrymple, North Dakota Commerce Commissioner Shane Goettle and a statewide network of partners kicked off the 5th Annual Innovate ND competition Monday in conjunction with Marketplace of Ideas in Fargo, highlighting a more generous cash prize and an expanded network of statewide partners.
Judges for a North Dakota competition that helps entrepreneurs turn ideas into successful businesses has selected finalists.
Due to the quality and potential of the participants in this year’s Innovate ND program, judges have chosen 30 top ideas to continue in the competition for another six weeks compared to the 20 top ideas that are typically advanced at this phase of the competition.
Nearly 175 people with 89 ideas have enrolled in the third Innovate ND program and competition. Ideas have come from all corners of the state including six from the northwest, 19 from the southwest, 32 from the northeast and 24 from the southeast. In addition, seven out-of-state teams enrolled from Minnesota, California, Ohio and Virginia. Winners must agree to launch their business in North Dakota in order to receive the prize money.
