One bad stretch turned a close game into an uphill climb for the Blue Jays. Up 1-0, Mandan scored three goals in three minutes and never looked back for a 4-0 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

Blue Jays hit 20-win mark

The Jamestown High School baseball team hit the 20-win mark on Saturday. There wasn’t much at stake postseason-wise for the Blue Jays, but Saturday’s sweep of Minot — 8-2 and 9-2 — in Surrey, N.D., gave the Blue Jays the No. 4 seed for this week’s West Region tournament, and a nice round number for wins.

Eagle on 12 highlights Stockert’s strong round Nick Stockert was right at home Friday at Hillcrest. The Jamestown High School freshman posted a season-leading round of 77 at the Blue Jay Invite on Friday to tie for the 10th, which also is a season-high for any Blue Jay golfer. “Great round by Nick,” said JHS coach Dean Kraft. “The 77 is a career-best as a Blue Jay.”

Sarah Muhs is going back to state, but she’ll be the only Blue Jay doing so. The Jamestown High School senior went 2-0 at the West Region tournament in Bismarck on Friday, including a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Mandan’s Cayla Cordova in quarterback play.

Blue Jays drop pair to Midgets

Game 2 was better than the opener, but both ended the same way for the JHS softball team on Friday. After an 18-0 setback to start, the Blue Jays trailed only 1-0 after 4 1/2 innings to Dickinson in the second contest, but the Midgets scored 11 runs in their next two at bats and pulled away.

The Jamestown High School girls tennis team gave itself a fighting chance on Thursday. The Blue Jays bounced back from a 5-0 loss to Bismarck Century in team competition during the West Region tennis tournament in Bismarck with a 4-1 win over Williston in a loser-out dual.
