In a combined meeting Tuesday, the City Council and Stutsman County Commission made only one major change to the draft of a memorandum of agreement to create a new joint library board.
Instead of jointly selecting a chairman for the new library board, the City Council and County Commission agreed the two bodies would select a seventh member.
Attorneys representing the City Council and Stutsman County Commission are collecting agreements from other communities in the state with combined libraries to serve as a guide in consolidating the two here.
Voters approved consolidation of city and county library services in the Nov. 4 election. According to state statute, a written agreement between the two governing bodies is the next step. The agreement will cover such areas as tax collection, personnel issues, administration of a joint fund, the size of the joint board and operating differences.
