Hundreds take in Life’s Focus

About 400 people attended the seventh annual Life’s Focus, a Jamestown Sun-sponsored event tailored for mature adults in the area. The event returned to its regularly scheduled date after flooding and sandbagging postponed the event last year. Life’s Focus gives The Jamestown Sun a chance to reciprocate the generosity it’s received from the community, said Lisa Barnick, special events and marketing coordinator.

Life’s Focus Wednesday

The seventh annual Life’s Focus, The Jamestown Sun-sponsored event dedicated to older citizens of the area, will open its doors at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The event includes seminars, vendor booths, bingo and music, according to Lisa Barnick, special events and marketing coordinator for The Jamestown Sun. “It is good to have the event back in April,” said Bruce Henke, Sun publisher. “The Life’s Focus event continues to be one of our most popular events. It is good to have a chance to do something supportive to the senior citizen population.”

Life’s Focus event set for April 21

The Jamestown Sun is sponsoring Life’s Focus for older adults from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 21 in at the Jamestown Civic Center. Life’s Focus is committed to helping mature adults explore lifestyles and resource opportunities for “living life to the max” in the world today. This event will include a trade show with many booths, seminars from the sponsors, entertainment, bingo and prizes.

Hospital auxiliary assists Life’s Focus

President Alice Williams presided at the May meeting of the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary. Services the club provided this past month included surgery pillows and hosting the Life’s Focus. Martha Trautman, sewing chairperson, re-ported that another 39 pillows have been completed and donated to the hospital and will be given to some surgery patients. Auxiliary volunteers assisted with the Life Focus Event on May 6 by greeting people, taking tickets and making sure the businesses that have booths were given a break.

Life’s Focus: About 500 people attend sixth annual event

The sixth annual Life’s Focus Wednesday drew about the same number of people as in previous years to dance, play bingo and enjoy the food and seminars. Jennifer Schultes, special events and marketing coordinator for The Jamestown Sun, said the day, which is given over to senior activities, went well. About 500 seniors attended, many of them making a day of it and others leaving and returning for various events or activities. Of course, there were a couple of favorites that drew the group.

An item in the “What’s Happening” calendar on page A7 in Thursday’s Sun gave incorrect admission information for Life’s Focus, an event for mature adults that will be from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 6 at the Jamestown Civic Center. Tickets cost $3 in advance and $4 at the door.

The sixth annual Life’s Focus, originally scheduled for April 15 at the Jamestown Civic Center, has been rescheduled to May 6 due to difficulties preparing the Civic Center after its use for sandbag preparation.
