NEW YORK (AP) — New York City came out overprepared Friday for a weak storm that delivered just a few inches of snow — not enough to plow in most places and likely not enough for the mayor to redeem himself from a disastrous response to a post-Christmas blizzard.
For newly elected Mayor Katie Andersen, this is the first job she’s had that actually corresponds to her political science degree.
The 28-year-old Andersen is only the second woman to be mayor of Jamestown. It wasn’t a job she expected to have, at least not yet.

After reading the letter to the editor in The Jamestown Sun in late May from Dan Buchanan with regard to leadership and the qualities needed to be mayor, I feel it’s necessary for me to respond and talk about real leadership, not just what could be construed as a self-centered desire to quiet the trains coming through our community. My choice for mayor is an individual who has proven himself to not only be a good leader, but also an individual who always keeps the best interests of this city first.

Voters in Jamestown will choose from three candidates for mayor on the Jamestown City Council in the June 8 primary election. The Sun asked the candidates 10 written questions and limited their answers to 100 words.

Half of Fargo’s mayoral candidates are missing in action with less than three weeks to go before the June 8 election.
Little has been heard from challengers Ahmed Haji and Robert Gates, both of whom paid their $100 filing fees, then seemingly disappeared not only from the political scene, but in at least one case, from the state.
