Many families have Thanksgiving traditions. For Marcia and Jim Cofield of Jamestown that tradition is volunteering at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. This was the family’s seventh year of working at the annual meal.
As they helped prepare Thanksgiving meals Thursday to be delivered to those who couldn’t attend the meal at Concordia Lutheran Church, the Cofields and their two children, Marissa, 15, and Mikaela, 10, all had different tasks.
While many residents carve turkeys, bake pies, pour coffee and visit with relatives on Thanksgiving Day, some residents choose to carve, bake, pour and visit with people they’ve never met.
For nearly 20 years, Paulette and Jim Ritter have operated the beverage and dessert stations at the Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown.
