United Methodist Women have announced the following events.
The Sakakawea District is sponsoring a cleanup day in Minot on Saturday. Those who would like to go will be meeting at the St. Paul’s United Methodist church at 7 a.m. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for those who would like to go.
First United Methodist Church will have vacation Bible school Aug. 15-18 for children ages 3 through grade 6. VBS will begin with a meal at 5:15 p.m. followed by the VBS program, Faith Heroes II, from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.
First United Methodist Church will be offering the 13-week Dave Ramsey course called Financial Peace University beginning Jan. 23. Biblically based Financial Peace University aims to help people overcome debt and become better stewards of their financial resources.
The Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church, Camping and Retreat Ministries Committee has announced that the Rev. Andy and Kate Bartel are the new site directors at Wesley Acres Camp and Retreat Center in North Dakota. The two served as manager’s assistants for three years at Camp Birchwood in the Alaska Missionary Conference. In addition, Kate also served as the food services manager and food manager’s assistant there for five years.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Women hosted the Three Rivers District UMW here last week.
Next year the group will be part of the Sakakawea District so a lot of its activities were geared toward that transition.
Another member of Sojourner’s Circle, Geneva Kamletz, died Sunday. Her funeral is at the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
First United Methodist Church will be offering a four-week video series on parenting Monday evenings from 5 to 7 beginning Oct. 4. A family meal and child care will be provided. The Dakotas United Methodist Foundation, Mitchell, S.D., and the Wesley Center of Religion, Grand Forks, have announced a list of scholarships awarded to individuals receiving a seminary education and preparing for ministry in the Dakotas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Women will have the program and bring cakes at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 for Ave Maria birthday party.
The Three Rivers District United Methodist spiritual retreat and annual meeting will be held at St. Paul’s on Sept. 17 and 18. The deadline to register is Sept. 10. Give registrations to Karen Aman or bring to the church office.
SONrise Gospel Singers will perform in concert at the Alfred Church of God (7th Day) at 2 p.m. July 31. The group will also perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Grace Baptist church, Gackle, and 6 p.m. July 30, at Free Methodist Church, Jamestown.
