The City Council’s Public Works Committee agreed Thursday to make a one-time payment to defray 2010 snow removal costs on Country Club Road and the Police and Fire Committee agreed to look for ways to rid Jamestown of encroaching deer.
Police Chief Dave Donegan said there have been five vehicle-deer crashes in Jamestown since January, primarily at the bottom of Mill Hill.
Construction on the dowel-and-rebar project on Mill Hill in Jamestown was completed Thursday afternoon, according to Steve Thompson, project engineer. Traffic was returned to four lanes as the detour cones were removed.
“Work got done about a half-month ahead of schedule,” he said. “We credit good weather and the cooperation of the public with helping move the project along.”
A nearly $500,000 project meant to remove the roughness and take the “whap-whap” sound out of driving up or down Mill Hill in Jamestown gets under way next week, according to Steve Thompson, project engineer for Interstate Engineering.
The April 27 Rotary meeting was presided over by President Tom Boerger. Doug Frohlich gave the invocation, Selmer Spitzer led the music, and Gail Martin collected numerous “Happy Dollars” for Rotary projects.
The Jamestown Police Department is responding to an injury accident involving at least two vehicles on top of Mill Hill.
