Marie Monson, daughter of Todd and Ruth Monson, Jamestown, has been admitted to North Dakota State University “With Distinction.” She will enter NDSU this fall and plans to major in English. Distinction means that NDSU is acknowledging Monson as an honor student.April 28, 2010

The annual Monson Reunion was held at McElroy Park in James-town on Aug. 9, with 98 people attending. In the spring of 1882 Ole and Berthe Monson came to North Dakota from Stavanger, Norway, with two of their sons, Retius “R.B.” and Rasmus.September 02, 2009

Reid Monson and Eric Watne have been regulars in the Jamestown High School tennis lineup for a long time, a half-decade in fact. Nathan Fix is no stranger to the scene, either. But on Friday, the three JHS veterans begin their final weekend in blue and white at the state tennis tournament in Bismarck. The goal for all three is simple — to place. Laura Kraft, Kara Wahl, Reid Monson and Nathan Fix of Jamestown High School were named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club, along with Heather Cellmer and Travis Warner of Jamestown College. Kraft won the West Region girls’ golf tournament, shooting a 1-over-par 73. She birdies three of the final four holes to earn a one-shot victory over Shantel Montgomery of Minot.October 01, 2008
