Alex Hanson and Jordan Piatz of Jamestown High School were named the Optimist Athletes of the Week, along with Shannon Fee of Jamestown College.
Hanson, a senior, led the Blue Jay volleyball team with 53 kills, eight blocks and 14 aces in the Bismarck/Century Invitational tournament. She helped JHS to a 4-3 record in the tournament.
The Jamestown Optimist Club meeting began last week with opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. General discussion was held regarding activities this fall including the sponsorship of a Johnny Cash concert, Christmas raffle and other new ideas.
The Jamestown Optimist Club meeting at the Knights of Columbus was called to order last week by Fritz Fremgen with invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. General business discussion was held re-garding activities and finance report.
Miah Dabill of Jamestown High School, along with Jamestown College’s Katie O’Neill and John Peabody, have been named Jamestown Optimist Athletes of the Week.
Dabill placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100 backstroke at the West Region swimming meet. Both of her times were career bests. Her time of 1:02.89 qualified her for the all-state second team and her point total from the meet qualified her for the all-conference team.
Kaitlin Walsh and Nate Bivens from Jamestown High School and Cassie Dellwo and Danny White from Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.
