South Heart City Council passes noise ordinance
The South Heart City Council has passed an ordinance restricting noise between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The ordinance was opposed by the owner of the bar in the southwest North Dakota town. Mike Sticka, owner of the I Don’t Know Bar, said it might mean the end of his business. He says he plans to take every citation to court.March 03, 2010

AG: County can’t keep fines from ordinance
Stutsman County received a setback in its efforts to create an ordinance restricting weights on county roads Monday when the North Dakota attorney general released an opinion which said any fines generated by a county load limit ordinance would go to the state treasury. “We were warned this may happen by Fritz (Fremgen, Stutsman County state’s attorney),” said Noel Johnson, chief operating officer of Stutsman County. “It takes the financial incentive out of a county ordinance.”By Keith Norman , December 29, 2009

Stutsman County considers zoning for wind farms
The Stutsman County Zoning Board held a preliminary meeting regarding a zoning ordinance for commercial wind energy facilities Thursday. Letter to the editor: City Council shouldn’t allow late-night fireworks
City Council members must not have to be at work until noon. Why else would they allow an ordinance to shoot off fireworks until midnight? Yes, I know it’s a celebration, and yes, I know it’s only for one week out of the year, and … yes, I know it’s Jamestown’s 125th, but not everyone is able to take part in the celebration all night.
