Target: The top - Jays’ Ostlie shooting for state title
Last year he was close, but this year he wants to go out on top.
Jamestown High School swimmer Landon Ostlie has been turning heads this season with his record-breaking times and consistent performances meet-in and meet-out, but now he wants those same heads to be watching him atop the podium at the state tournament.

Ostlie, Marler break records
Jamestown High School’s Landon Ostlie and Willy Marler shattered a pair of records during the Blue Jay boys’ swimming dual vs. Bismarck Century in Jamestown on Thursday night.
Ostlie bested his own team record in the 100-yard butterfly by winning the event in a time of 55.94. The Jamestown senior set the bar last season with a previous best time of 56.01.
Marler, a Jamestown junior, already held the team record in the 100 freestyle, which he set one year ago with a time of 48.25. But he has had his eyes set on breaking the JHS pool record all season, which he accomplished against the Patriots.

And for good reason.
Just a sophomore, Marler has proven to be the top sprinter in the state this season, and can settle any debate on the topic once and for all this weekend at the state swimming and diving championships in Grand Forks, beginning with the prelims today at the Hyslop Sports Center on the campus of UND.

Marler blitzes field
Willy Marler left no doubt who the fastest swimmer in North Dakota is on Saturday.
The Jamestown High School standout won the 50 and 100 freestyles at the Blue Jay Invite on Saturday, featuring every team in the state.
The Blue Jays finished seventh overall with 188 points. Minot easily won the team title with a score of 445.

Ostlie breaks record
With stars Landon Ostlie and Willy Marler leading the way, the Jamestown High School swimming team keeps getting better.
The Blue Jays showed 84 percent improvement on Saturday at the Manley Memorial meet at the Fargo North pool, topped by Ostlie, who set a new school record in the backstroke.
