Karen Boehm and her neighbors dread this time of year.

The Jamestown City Council’s Public Works Committee agreed Thursday to make changes to the area around the new downtown parking lots in order to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Currently there are downtown handicap parking spaces outside of Central Valley Health District, One Hour Martinizing and the All-Vets Club that do not comply with ADA regulations.
With the reconstruction of the downtown parking lots under way, the Jamestown Police Department will more strictly enforce parking regulations on downtown streets, it said in a press release Wednesday. The release said this will apply mostly to the areas with 2-hour limits.
Fourteen motorists were cited Wednesday for violating the city’s 48-hour parking ordinance, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Vehicles are required to move every 48 hours, said Police Chief Dave Donegan, regardless of the time of year.
“We enforce it most strictly in the winter because of snow removal,” he said.
The fine for violated the parking law is $10.
