WASHINGTON (AP) — Industrial production rose in December by the largest amount in five months, providing the economy with solid momentum heading into the new year.

North Dakota is again setting monthly oil production records and may be on pace to set a record for the year, state and industry officials said Tuesday.
It’s a turnaround from just a few months ago, when slipping crude prices and a slumping U.S. economy led officials to believe last year’s record production in the state’s oil patch might never be surpassed.
