After 12 hours of continuous prayer from 9 p.m. April 2 to 9 a.m. April 3, members from St. James Catholic Basilica, the Jamestown Prayer Quilt was passed on to St. John’s Lutheran for another 12 hours of continuous prayer for unity and peace in Jesus Christ in the community and the country.
Quilts by the Jamestown Quilters’ Guild are featured as Unison Bank’s April exhibit.
According to guild members, quilting is more than measuring and sewing and being precise and careful. Their belief is that it’s about making warmth and beauty for family and friends. These quilters say once quilts were a necessity. Now they’re an expression of personal artistry.
Viewers, quilters, bargain-seekers and collectors flock to the 30th Annual Indian Summer Quilt Show and Conference scheduled Friday through Sunday at the Holiday Inn, Fargo. Sponsored by the Quilters’ Guild of North Dakota, the three-day event features more than 35 classes and lectures, an exhibit of more than 180 quilts, daily demonstrations, a packed vendor area featuring quilt shops and related business from across North Dakota and Minnesota, the QGND Bodacious Bazaar featuring hand-crafted items, unfinished projects, ornaments, fabrics, a small quilt silent auction and more.
The 22nd Annual Quilt and Fine Arts Auction and Antique Tractor Show are Saturday at Red Willow Bible Camp north of Binford, N.D.
A prayer breakfast is at 9:15 a.m. Quilt viewing and the silent auction also begin at that time and the antique tractor display is on the game field.
