Environmental groups and Flint Hills Resources announced an agreement Tuesday to cut greenhouse gas emissions and smog-forming air pollution from the company's planned upgrade at Minnesota's largest oil refinery.
A diesel refinery near Dickinson could be operational as soon as late 2014, processing 20,000 barrels of Bakken crude oil per day and helping meet the state’s demand for diesel, officials announced Thursday.
MDU Resources Group announced that Dakota Prairie Refining, a partnership with Calumet Specialty Products Partners, will be under construction as early as April four miles west of Dickinson south of Interstate 94.

BISMARCK – Gov. Jack Dalrymple plans to hold a news conference today to announce plans for construction of a new diesel refinery in North Dakota.
The project will create jobs and provide other statewide benefits, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
Two Minnesota oil refineries say they shouldn’t have to help pay for a pipeline from North Dakota to Wisconsin that they won’t use.
Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge Energy this month proposed a surcharge to finance the $2.5 billion, 618-mile “Sandpiper” pipeline, which will carry more oil from the Bakken fields in western North Dakota across Minnesota to a terminal in Superior, Wis.
